Research published by Dr Jo Pybis of BACP  research team has shown that counselling is as effective as CBT in helping those with depression and that two sessions of counselling had a significantly better outcome than two sessions of CBT. The value in this research is not to pitch counselling and CBT against each other, but to highlight the role counselling has in changing lives. It’s vital to give people a choice about the therapy they receive so they can decide what works best for them
